Kurt Scobie - 2014 Songwriter Shootout Champion

On Thursday, December 11th Kurt Scobie was crowned the overall winner at the year-end Songwriter Shootout Finals held at The Camp House. Following Eddie Owen's model, host Anthony Quails has created a space for songwriters to showcase their songs and build community within the music scene in Chattanooga, TN.

Each performer was given an opportunity to share two songs. Kurt chose "Blank Page" and "Your Crash" which landed him in the final round where he ended the night with his crowd-friendly song "Cue".

Kurt's prize as winner includes an opportunity to record with producer Chuck Harris, who has engineered and mixed many Grammy and Dove Award winning artists.

On Monday, January 27th, Kurt Scobie performed at Red Clay Theatre (Duluth, GA) in the Eddie Owen Presents Songwriter Open Mic. At the end of the night Kurt was called back as one of the three finalists, and was announced as the overall winner at the very end of the competition. This win sends the Atlanta-based pianist to the bi-annual Songwriter Shootout in June at RCT. Songwriters from around the world will come to perform in the single-elimination competition hosted by Atlanta's beloved live music advocate Eddie Owen.
